In what has become Edgewater’s largest cultural event, celebrating the arts, music and culture, the Edgewater Arts Council and Edgewater Cultural & Historical Committee joined forces to celebrate the Arts on Sunday, September 14.
Sunny skies shined down on 70 artists competing for $5000 in cash prizes, 30 vendors, 20 sponsors and nearly 4,000 attendees for the 23rd annual Edgewater Arts & Music Festival.
In the simultanious11th annual Edgewater Ford Assembly Plant Vintage Auto Show competition, 73 cars vied in 37 categories for trophies and recognition.
In the Edgewater Arts juried art competition, 12 winners were selected in seven categories winning a total of $5000 in cash prizes.

“This is the biggest car show were have ever had in the 11 years we’ve been conducting this event,” said Douglas E. Hall, director of the car show and chairman of the Edgewater Culrural and Historical Committee. The show, which is open to all makes of cars, commemorates the nearly quarter of a century the Ford Motor Company built cars and trucks in Edgewater moon a pier that his now the community of Independence Harbor.

“Our combined event is arguably the largest in north New Jersey and possibly in the whole state,” said Lynne Grasz Hall, President, Edgewater Arts Council.
The Edgewater Arts Council is a 501.c4 non-profit, non-partisan, private organization of volunteers, dedicated to broadening awareness of visual and performing arts and crafts.
The Edgewater Arts Council sponsors concerts and other artistic events throughout the Borough. The Arts Council promotes local artists by establishing a gallery at the Community Center to display indoor art. It introduced outdoor art with four sculptures it donated to the Borough, which sited them in public places around town. One of them is onThompson Lane, at the entrance to the Arts Festival.
Support for the Arts Council traditionally comes from local businesses, commercial and private benefactors and from fundraising projects and grants from the Borough of Edgewater.
Additional funding is made possible in part by the New Jersey State Council on the Arts and the Department of State, through grant funds administered by the Bergen County Department of Parks, Division of Cultural and Historic Affairs.
Lynne M. Grasz Hall is the President of the Edgewater Arts Council. Vice President/Design Director is Karin Thieme. Treasurer is Linda Kligman. Other active committee members are Helen Fenwick, Esther Fried, Ksenia Davidova. Katherine Sobong, Briana Nurse and Larry Lipsen.
Douglas E. Hall is Chairman of the Edgewater Cultural & Historical Committee. Board members include James Trager, Adrian Rodriguez, Linda Farrell, Susan Candee, Sheila Olaksen and Joyce Bellfield. Ruth Paci founding chair of the committee serves as past chair emrtitus.
