Lynne Grasz Hall, President of the Edgewater Arts Council, will be one of two honorees inducted into the 2014 class of the Nebraska Broadcasters “Hall of Fame”. The event occurs on August 13 in Lincoln, Neb., Mrs. Grasz Hall’s hometown.
She joins previous Nebraska inductees including talk show hosts Johnny Carson and Dick Cavett and former NBC News anchor Tom Brokaw. Mrs. Grasz-Hall is one of the few women inducted into the “Hall of Fame” in its 50-year history.
She is cited for her long career in broadcasting including 10 years at CBS as both Executive Producer of the award-winning “Read More About It” literacy project which was a partnership between CBS and the Library of Congress. She was also CBS/Broadcast Group chief spokesperson in charge of all broadcast group media relationships for eight operating divisions.
In addition, Mrs. Grasz Hall is the only person to head up three television industry associations:
The Television Information Office of the National Association of Broadcasters (New York); the Broadcast Promotion & Marketing Executives (Los Angeles) and Broadcast Designers Association International (San Francisco and New York). She is the co-founder of the Broadcast Designers Association and is responsible for the elevation of motion graphic designers into the digital design arena including web design, animation, set design and on-air graphics internationally. She ran international design conferences in London and Singapore and established design exchange programs with many international countries and the U.S.
She began her career in local television working at CBS affiliates in Lincoln and St. Louis before being recruited to the CBS position in New York. During her career, she’s won many awards including two Emmys; an Abe Lincoln award for outstanding children’s’ programming; a National Headliner award; a Religion in Media award; and many advertising achievement awards.
For the last six years, she has been President, Edgewater Arts Council, which runs the annual Edgewater Arts & Music Festival on Old River Road. She’s used her marketing and public relations skills to grow the Arts Council and the annual Festival. This year’s festival is Sunday, Sept. 14, 2014 and it has become Bergen County’s most prestigious juried art competition offering $5,500 in prizes this year.
In addition to running Grasz Communications, an international marketing and public relations company in New York City, she has found time to volunteer her expertise as President, National School Foundation Association (NSFA) where she’s helped local school foundations raise over one-third of a billion dollars nationwide to help support local school initiatives through their educational foundations.
Both she and her husband, Douglas E. Hall, an award-winning journalist who chairs the Edgewater Cultural & Historical Committee, have a long-time involvement in the arts, history and culture of Edgewater. He is the author of “Images of America: Edgewater” which details the vibrant history of the Borough.
Mrs. Grasz Hall will be honored on August 13 along with Rod Bates, recently retired General Manager of Nebraska Educational Telecommunications (NET).
